The Full Story
At Gateway, our main objective is to reduce youth homelessness by providing long-term residential services to teach youth and young adults the skills necessary to live on their own independently as they transition from foster care, juvenile justice custody, or other residential settings, such as mentoring, academic support, employment programs and vocational training, career preparation, budget and financial management, health education and risk prevention, housing education and home management, and a host of other life skills. The goal of Gateway Youth Development Program is to form partnerships and strategically coordinate with the Ohio Department of Youth Services, Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Lucas County Children Services, Lucas County Juvenile Court, Toledo Public Schools, ProMedica Ebeid Institute and other community organizations to improve social, emotional, educational and economic outcomes for youth by exposing them to new opportunities and experiences they may have never had.
