The “Success Series” offers a comprehensive life-skills training program designed for youth and young adults ages 14-22.These domains include education, career preparation, money management, housing & home management, health & nutrition, knowledge of community resources, coping skills, anger management, risk prevention.

Young Entrepreneurs Program (YEP)                                                                                                       Ages 18-22

We strive to change the mindsets of young people, so they believe in themselves and what they can accomplish. In 16 weeks, YEP participants will create a business plan, operating agreement, articles of incorporation and bylaws, register with the Ohio Secretary of State, obtain a federal Employer Identification Number (EIN), open a business bank account, submit applications for the proper licenses and permits (if needed), learn applicable state and federal laws, including taxation and workers’ compensation.

Skilled Trades Program (STP): Full-Time                                                                                                Ages 18-22

In partnership with Penta Career Center, the Gateway Skilled Trades Program (STP) offers full and part-time hands-on training programs that prepare youth and young adults for in-demand jobs. Participates earn industry recognized certificates in Automotive Technology, Building, Contracting & Remodeling, Heating, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Mechanic & Repair, Welding and Forklift training.

Skilled Trades Program: High School 

Ages 16-22    

All participants will complete a Career Assessment to assist students in realistic planning for the future by helping them discover their interests, abilities, career preferences, and learning styles. Certified Career Assessment staff work with students individually to support them in determining options for their high school education and beyond.

Beyond Beauty School

Ages 16-22

In partnership with Above & Beyond Beauty Salon, Gateway Youth Development Program offers scholarship opportunities for youth and young adults ages 16-22 that are interested in pursuing a career in the beauty industry.

Workplace Development Training

Ages 14-22

Gateway offers youth and young adults a variety of activities focused on life and work skills as well as career preparation. Activities include: Subsidized Employment, Personal and/or Career Mentoring, Career Exploration/Planning, GED Preparation, College-Based Training, Apprenticeship Programs, Life Skills, Job Search, Resume Development and Interviewing Skills. We also offer hands-on instruction to help youth and young adults develop work-related skills including: Time Management, Resource Management, and Leadership Development.

Financial Literacy

Ages 14-22

In partnership with PNC Bank and Woodforest Bank, on-site financial literacy classes are provided at the Gateway Youth Development Center to teach youth and young adults money matters such as budgeting, checking and savings; power of credit, and investments.
